Fishing Trip
Inle Lake, Myanmar (Burma).
Inle lake is a Mecca for calm and relaxation. You can hire a bike and cycle around the lake and take in the awesome, authentic, sights. The people are so gentle and the country so untouched. Tourism is a double edged sword.
Rooftop Glow
Xian, China.
From the high walls surrounding the city of Xian you can peer down and see beautiful Chinese architecture buried in the trees.
Theres a Pagoda
Bagan, Myanmar (Burma).
Myanmar is such a special country that is still in its infancy with tourism, meaning that the people are so genuine and the culture untouched. I names this 'Theres a Pagoda' as it was ironic saying it in a surprised way when every where you turn is another one! Not to take away from the majesty of the place of course and the great history.
Tea with the master
Lijiang, China
We stayed in this guys guys house in Xian and he was the best host, and the coolest. He smoked continuously and drank tea and talked of his new 'healthy' lifestyle in Lijiang (a regularly small town) after moving away from the stress of Beijing.
Bird Smoke
Bird market, Kunming. China
Chilling out while the hustle and bustle of bird trading goes on in the market.
Meditate
Hanoi, Vietnam.
Some quiet time for meditation between a busy park and a busy street. Wherever you are you can find inner peace.
Light it up
Hoi An, Vietnam
All shapes and sizes... come here for your lanterns!
Balance
Fishing on Inle Lake, Myanmar (Burma)
Fishing at its most simple with most control. The fisherman balances the boat on an oar using the reeds leaving his hands free to cast.
All lined up
Inle Lake, Myanmar (Burma)
In the heat of the day most fisherman are back from the lake and are selling their catch.
Close Shave
Shwe Yan Pyay, Inle Lake. Myanmay (Burma)
Grade 1 on the head, cut throat razor everywhere else... for the price of a coffee in the UK.
The lantern lady
Hoi An, Vietnam
All day she sits, making her lanterns to sell to rich tourists as they pass by. She is art herself, surrounded by the results of her hard work.
Monks in training
Nyaung-U, Myanmar (Burma)
These young boys spend a short time in a monastery learning the ways of Buddhism in the hope that later in life they may come back and become monks. Myanmar is one of the most devout Buddhist countries in the world and as such is an incredibly safe and peaceful place.
Rosary Girl
Reed Island. Lake Titicaca in Puno, Peru.
This is a bit of a tourist hot spot... but, you can't deny its draw and be amazed at how these people live their lives on islands built completely out of reeds. The people here still live as they did however now they are becoming more heavily centred around tourism. The people who lived on the islands used to catch fish and then barter with people from the mountains, exchange goods direct without any cash.
